Deion Sanders is making “progress” in his battle with health issues that have reportedly kept him away from the Colorado football program, his son Deion Sanders Jr. said in a video posted Saturday on his YouTube channel.

“It’s a beautiful thing,” Deion Jr. said at the 17:00 mark of the video. “Coach Prime, back active, moving around. God is great. Not back active moving around, but it’s progress.”

The video also shows Sanders going on a fishing trip with his former two-way star Travis Hunter, who is now preparing for his rookie season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Sanders shared his gratitude for well wishes in a June 11 post on social media, in which he wrote he was “excited to get back to Colorado.”

USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer reported prior to Sanders’ post that the Colorado coach “has been away at his estate in Texas dealing with an unspecified health issue even as CU’s annual slate of summer football camps got underway last week in Boulder.”

Working at summer camps is part of Sanders’ contract with the school, according to Schrotenboer.

Schrotenboer also noted that Sanders also did not attend a scheduled talk for The Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research on June 8.

The foundation website said that Sanders was “unable to attend” because of “an unavoidable last-minute scheduling change.”

When appearing on a livestream with Asante Samuel back on May 30, Sanders noted that he had been away from the spotlight for some time.

“I ain’t been in front of nobody for a minute. I lost about 14 pounds. I’m coming back, but I needed this, I needed this exchange of energy, because I haven’t had the energy,” Sanders told Samuels at the one-hour mark of their May 30 livestream.
