Deion Sanders rehabbing as he nears return from mystery health issue
The Colorado football coach has been rehabilitating in a weighted vest. On Saturday, he posted a picture on Instagram wearing it next to his son Deion Jr. The Hall of Famer has been absent from his job since April, missing Colorado’s annual youth and high school camps in June which is on his contract as official duties. He also missed a speaking engagement in Florida and has instead been recovering while at his estate in Texas. The timeline of his return remains unclear, but he is set to appear at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas, on July 9.

“Every little step I take My son @deionsandersjr has been there so we’ve decided to keep on stepping!” Sanders wrote in the post Saturday. “#CoachPrime coming to a stadium sold out soon.”

In a separate post on June 26, Sanders used his health status to promote an energy drink sponsor in the same weighted vest.
“1 step closer Everyday,” he wrote. “I’m Walking it out! Our Team is working their butts off therefore I’ve got to match that (fire) they have!”

The Hall of Famer has been absent from his job since April, missing Colorado’s annual youth and high school camps in June which is on his contract as official duties. He also missed a speaking engagement in Florida and has instead been recovering while at his estate in Texas.
“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he going through, what he went through,” Deion Jr. said earlier in June.

Additionally, Sanders didn’t attend the wedding of former Buffalo Travis Hunter in Tennessee in May.
“He know why we couldn’t be there,” Sanders Jr. said on his YouTube channel after the wedding.
In 2021, the 57-year-old had two toes amputated due to blood clots.
Sanders also received emergency surgery to treat blood clots in his legs and missed a Pac-12 Conference media event in July 2023.

On Sunday, he posted on Instagram in a series of pictures with his grandchild. Sanders captioned it “I Smile baby because I’m here and I still have a chance. #CoachPrime #GeandHitta.”
The timeline of his return remains unclear. However, Sanders is set to appear at a Big 12 Conference media event in Frisco, Texas on July 9.
Previously on June 11, Sanders posted on X to let everyone know that “everything is OKAY and will continue to be so.”
