Fashion Designer Martha Nolan Found Dead at 33 on Boat in Montauk
Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra was found dead on a boat in Montauk at age 33. The fashion designer was the founder of the East x East clothing brand. She was also the Director of Operations at K4 Capital Management, a role she held since June 2024. Police confirmed to ABC News that a cause and manner of death is still to be determined. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to perform an autopsy for the cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for August 6. The death comes one day after Aubrey Plaza’s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died at the age of 47. He was found to have committed suicide, according to medical examiner records.
The Suffolk County Police Department confirmed Nolan-O’Slatarra’s identity on Tuesday, August 5, after a body was found just after midnight at the Montauk Yacht Club. According to ABC News, the East Hampton Town Police received a 911 call reporting that an unconscious body was found. Police told the publication that some passersbys attempted to revive Nolan-O’Slatarra with CPR on the scene.
Several outlets, including The New York Post and The Daily Mail, claimed that people reported hearing screams on the dock prior to the body being found.
Police confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday that a cause and manner of death is still to be determined. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office is set to perform an autopsy.

Nolan-O’Slatarra’s Instagram reveals that she was the founder of the East x East clothing brand. She also launched the Brand Growth Consultants company, her bio revealed.
She was most known for her fashion companies. East x East is a “sustainable resort wear brand” and was “founded on the belief that fashion should not come at the expense of our planet,” according to the brand’s website. The clothing company sells a combination of accessories, clothing and swimwear for both men and women.
The brand’s slogan is, “Built in the City x Made for the Sun,” and appears to appeal to those living in Manhattan and spend their summers in The Hamptons.
“We are committed to using environmentally-friendly materials and ethical manufacturing processes so that our customers can feel good about their purchases and the impact they have on the world,” the website adds. “Our collections are made to be worn and loved, whether you’re lounging on the beach or exploring the city. We believe that fashion should be fun, effortless, and sustainable. Join us in embracing the sun, while also taking care of our planet.”

According to her LinkedIn page, Nolan-O’Slatarra studied at University College Dublin and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration and Management and Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing. After a few years working in Ireland, she relocated to New York City in 2015.
Nolan-O’Slatarra worked for Nasdaq Calypso Technology for one year after the move. She nabbed a few other roles before founding East x East, Duper (another apparel company) and becoming the CEO of Brand Growth Consultants. Nolan-O’Slatarra was also the Director of Operations at K4 Capital Management, a role she held since June 2024.
