Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang are both new additions to the Boston Celtics this summer. Simons joined the franchise as part of the deal that sent Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers, while Niang joined as part of the three-team deal that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks. Unfortunately for Celtics fans, neither player projects to be the type of two-way threat Joe Mazzulla has built around in recent seasons.

As such, there has been considerable chatter among the fanbase of a potential trade that could re-route Simons or Niang (if not both) before the new season gets underway, or by the 2026 NBA Trade deadline. However, if a trade doesn’t materialize, Boston must find ways to get the best out of its two new talents, even if that means a change in offensive and defenisve approach.

During a recent episode of NESN’s “Hold My Banner” podcast, Kasey Hudson and Ountae Campbell discuss whether Simons and Niang are the right fit for the Celtics and the style of basketball they’ve played since Mazzulla took over the roster. The duo also questioned whether Simons and Niang can fit into the locker room culture in Boston and whether that can bring out a new level in either player.
