Dozens of celebrities help raise money for Maine charities at Drive Fore Kids tournament
The Drive Fore Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament will raise money for two charities. The charities will see more than $100,000 combined. This year’s players include NESN broadcaster and Lewiston native Tom Caron. Other celebrities include former and current NFL players and Red Sox legends Keith Foulke, John Lester and Derek Lowe.
They’re getting ready to tee it up at the Drive Fore Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament.
Some of the players gathered Thursday in Portland ahead of the event at Falmouth Country Club Friday.
It will raise money for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and Dempsey Center.
The charities will see more than $100,000 combined.

This year’s players include NESN broadcaster and Lewiston native Tom Caron and former pro golfer Halle Leadbetter.
“I’ve had a lot of friends that have played and have said, ‘Hey you’ve got to get up to Portland, it’s an amazing cause for the Dempsey Center and the Barbara Bush Hospital,’ so I just think, ‘What better way to raise awareness and what more fun way to raise awareness than to play golf in this event?’” Leadbetter said.
“I’m from here, so I know how special Portland is, but it’s amazing, like Michael Peña, the actor came two years ago, he’s actually shooting a movie and got out of it for four days to come back, and that’s really cool that people come to see Portland, the celebrities, and are blown away and want to come back,” Caron said.
Other celebrities include former and current NFL players and Red Sox legends Keith Foulke, John Lester and Derek Lowe.
