Eagle County School District is looking for passionate individuals who are interested in supporting educational excellence and who have a keen interest in finance and budgeting to join its finance committee.
The Eagle County School District finance committee is an external monitoring committee that helps ensure the district functions in a fiscally prudent manner, with a high level of financial stewardship. The committee’s primary functions include reviewing and analyzing the school budget, making recommendations for budget allocations, monitoring financial performance and adherence to budgets, providing financial oversight and guidance to support educational goals and reporting and providing opinions on the results of the committee work to the board of education quarterly or as otherwise requested.
While no specific experience is required to apply for this role, the district seeks individuals who have a background or interest in finance, accounting or budget management. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to work collaboratively are also considered a strength, and being committed to and supporting the mission and values of Eagle County School District are a must.
“Committee members have a meaningful impact on education and student success, and they also get to build up their resume and professional skills,” said Bryson Beaver, the district’s chief financial officer. “Our finance committee is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in financial oversight and management while collaborating with a dedicated team of educators and community members.”
Members of the finance committee will learn more about the ins and outs of school finances and gain a better understanding of the shortfalls of state funding and the efforts the district takes to ensure fiscal responsibility. Eagle County School District has a legacy of financial prudence, and the finance committee plays a large role in helping to support those efforts.
