Erik Menendez Undergoes 2 Surgeries After “Serious” Health Diagnosis
Erik Menendez is serving 50 years to life in prison for the 1989 murders of his parents. His wife Tammi Menendez shared an update on his health on July 23. She said he has undergone his second “successful” surgery to treat his condition.
Erik Menendez isn’t out of the woods yet.
His wife Tammi Menendez shared an update on Erik’s health after the 54-year-old—who is serving 50 years to life in prison along with brother Lyle Menendez for the 1989 murders of their parents—was diagnosed with what his attorney called a “serious medical condition.”
Tammi explained that Erik, whose specific diagnosis has not been made public, has undergone his second “successful” surgery to treat his condition.
“He will need a 3rd surgery which will hopefully happen soon,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, on July 23. “Because Erik is in prison there are a lot of complications and delays with surgery.”
Following his second operation on July 23, she said Erik “remains nauseous and in pain” as he is “recovering from surgery.”
“We thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers,” Tammi continued. “Complications happen in surgery but this is a very stressful time for us. Additionally, we are grateful to the CRT custody and medical staff who did their best during this difficult situation.”
