ESPN Announcer Chris Fowler, 62, Filled With Emotion on Saturday
ESPN’s Jim Naughton has been calling Wimbledon for 13 years. He was in London on Saturday for the first time since 2003. He shared a video of his time at Wimbledon with his fans. The 2025 Wimbledon is set to begin on Monday and will run until July 13. ESPN holds the broadcast rights in the United States, and Chris Fowler will be on the call once again.

He started calling matches live since 2012 and the 13 years’ experience made him an integral part of the ESPN tennis coverage.
On Saturday, Fowler was in London at Centre Court, taking in the scene with no one else around. He reflected on all the “amazing moments” he and his crew have witnessed from the bunker where he always calls matches.
Fowler filmed himself and shared an emotional message with his followers on social media.

“A very first stop at Wimbledon this year is this beautiful office, the Centre Court Bunker, where we call all the biggest matches,” Fowler said. “I can’t tell you how it fills me with emotion and gratitude to come back here every year. This is the place where Dick Enberg sat and described Wimbledon on NBC. And for years, as I was growing up, Dick Enberg was my portal to this place. And I viewed the championships through his amazing lens. And to have the privilege of sitting in this place along with John and Patrick and Chrissy and the rest of our team and describe matches is kind of beyond my ability to communicate it.”
He began covering Wimbledon in 2003 as the primary host of ESPN’s Grand Slam tennis coverage, but it is in calling Wimbledon matches, much like Dick Enberg, that he had his share of big moments. One notable match he called was the thrilling five-set 2019 men’s singles final between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, which Djokovic won.
