Losing right tackle Rashawn Slater to a season-ending patellar tendon tear is a major hit to the Chargers offense. With projections so close from QB8-QB16, Justin Herbert has fallen closer to the bottom of that tier. The return of a 33-year-old Keenan Allen won’t offer enough help to offset Slater’s presence up front.
Matthew Stafford ’s back issues sound like a problematic injury that could cause him issues at any point this season. For now, we’ll hope that he can get right over the next month, but he’s a very risky QB2 for fantasy. His health will also have a serious impact on the fantasy values of the Rams’ skill position stars like Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Kyren Williams. If Stafford were to miss time, all three would warrant a significant drop of a round or more.
Anthony Richardson Sr. dislocated his pinky finger in the Colts’ first preseason game and is being called day-to-day. Hopefully, he’s able to return soon, but any missed practice time could open the door for Daniel Jones to win the starting job for Week 1. While Richardson still holds immense fantasy potential, he needs to be on the field showing signs of improvement from previous seasons. For the time being, I’m moving Jones ahead of him until we get more information on the injury.
