FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WALA) – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officials say two people are dead following an accident involving a sport bike and an SUV shortly before 9:30 Friday night.

FHP says an SUV was trying to turn left from eastbound U.S. Highway 98 into The Destin West Beach and Bay Resort in the 1500 block of Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton Beach when a sport bike traveling west at a high rate of speed struck the right side of the turning SUV.

Highway Patrol officials say the rider of the bike, whom they identify only as a 19 year old man from Fort Walton Beach, was killed, as was the front seat passenger of the turning SUV, identified only as a 50 year old woman from Fort Worth, Texas.

FHP says two additional passengers in the SUV were transported to the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, with serious injuries, however, they have not yet been identified.

No criminal charges are expected as a result of this crash.
