HERRIMAN — Fire crews were seen responding to a Herriman business Saturday night as flames and smoke were visible after reports of an explosion.

Sgt. Greg Shaver with the Herriman Police Department said a car had crashed into a building.

The scene appeared to be centered around Jimmy John’s and Domino’s located at the intersection of 13400 South and 5200 West.

There was no other information immediately available from emergency crews, but video obtained by KSL showed flames and a large response by emergency personnel.

The Herriman Police Department sent out an emergency alert just after 10:30 p.m. asking residents in the area of 5100 West and 13400 South to leave the area and get to a safe location. That evacuation notice was centered on Terra Cruz Lane and Parasol Lane due to concerns of a gas leak.

The department announced on X that it was working alongside the Unified Fire Authority and Riverton Police Department. Police confirmed that 13400 South would be closed in both directions until further notice.

There was no word on whether anybody had been seriously injured.
