Forget Dhahab Edition, ASUS Made An ROG RTX 5090 With Real “5kg” Gold

ASUS Just Showcased an Actual “Gold” RTX 5090 Edition in China, Which Probably Costs Over $500,000. This is probably the most expensive and the heaviest mainstream graphics card ever created. Unlike the Dhahab edition, this one doesn’t look as shiny or well defined, but it doesn’t matter since it is fully gold. Compared to the ROG Astral RTX 50 90 DhahAb, it is astronomically expensive, as it was launched for around $8,000 for the Middle East. ASUS Just Showcased an Actual “Gold” RTX 5090 Edition in China, Which Probably Costs Over $500,000

Why just buy simple gold jewellery when you can buy a gold that can actually play games? This might be getting out of hand since this might be the most expensive GPU ever made. If you think ASUS was done with the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab edition, then ASUS has a surprise for you. It just showcased an ROG RTX 5090 in China, which is mostly made up of actual Gold.

As per the report, the ROG RTX 5090 here uses approximately 5 kg of Gold and the GPU weighs 7.2 kg in total. This is probably the most expensive and the heaviest mainstream graphics card ever created. Usually, you will find RTX 5090 weighing between 2.5 to 3.0 kg, but since the GPU shroud is fully made up of Gold, you get an additional 5 kg of weight on top of the PCB and the heatsink.

As far as we can tell from the pics, the GPU heatink is likely made up of copper, which is already quite expensive than regular aluminum heatsinks. The Golden Shroud is quite thick but looks unpolished. We can see that ASUS tried to replicate the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab design, but it clearly failed to do so. Unlike the Dhahab edition, this one doesn’t look as shiny or well defined, but it doesn’t matter since it is fully gold while the Dhahab edition only uses Gold plating.

One report suggested that it is the RTX 5090D, but we can’t confirm that. Nonetheless, this GPU should cost at least $500,000 or more, which is even over 10X higher than NVIDIA’s one of the most powerful data center GPUs, the Blackwell B200. Compared to the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab, it is astronomically expensive, as the Dhahab was launched for around $8,000 for the Middle East. This is already over 80X the price of the Dhahab edition.

Talk about the regular $2000 RTX 5090, you are looking at an absurd 250X price. Surely, no sane mind would even think of buying something like this. The Dhahab edition was already too expensive, but ASUS suddenly came out with an actual Gold GPU, which is quite bizarre. For this price, you can buy a Ferrari, but let’s see where this GPU ends up.
