Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant doesn’t work in the media, but maybe that should change. Bryant is active on X, offering his opinions on all 32 NFL teams. Sure, Bryant still supports the Cowboys, but he’s also honest. Bryant is a big fan of Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

A video surfaced on X over the weekend where former NFL quarterback — and 2015 NFL MVP — Cam Newton asked if Daniels could be a one-hit wonder. It was on Newton’s podcast, “Funky Friday,” where he interviewed rapper and Commanders’ superfan Wale.

Newton even brought up another former Washington quarterback when discussing Daniels.

“There was nobody who had the game in a chokehold like Robert Griffin III,” Newton said. “I see that same thing happening for Jayden and, you know, being in that community, do you fear that?” he asked Wale.

Griffin, of course, was the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for Washington. He had one of the best rookie seasons ever, but was never the same again.

Bryant saw the video and responded.

Even a former Cowboys star can admit Daniels is here to stay.

Bryant is correct. Daniels’ ability as a runner is secondary to his passing skills. Daniels can and will beat you from the pocket. Sure, he led the Commanders in rushing last season, but don’t expect that to be the norm moving forward.

Daniels and the Commanders open training camp on July 22.
