Four R&B engineers suspended after Gambhira bridge collapse

Chief minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a meeting of top officials in Gandhinagar on Thursday and ordered a re-inspection of all bridges in the state. In municipal corporation areas, commissioners were also asked to conduct inspections of all bridges.
Following the bridge collapse on Wednesday, CM Patel directed a team of experts to visit the mishap site and file a preliminary report at the earliest on the possible causes of the bridge collapse.
The team of experts comprised officers of the department as well as other experts.
Based on the preliminary observations of the panel, the state govt on Thursday issued suspension orders for an executive engineer, two deputy executive engineers, and one assistant engineer.
“The CM decided to immediately suspend the officials found responsible for the accident. These include Executive engineer N M Nayakawala, deputy engineers U C Patel and R T Patel, and assistant engineer J V Shah,” an official statement said on Thursday.
Within hours of the bridge collapse, CM Patel assigned a team of experts to prepare a report on the repairs, inspections, and quality checks conducted on the Mujpur-Gambhira bridge over its entire period. The team conducted a visit to the collapse site and submitted its preliminary report to the govt on Thursday.
