Galaxy S26 Ultra is ‘100%’ getting a charging upgrade beyond 45W, leaker says
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to be getting a charging upgrade. Leaker Ice Universe claims the device will be able to charge at up to 80W. This would be the first time Samsung has gone beyond its 45W limit. The S26 Edge is also rumored to have a larger silicon-carbon battery. Neither device seems like it will benefit from both improvements, possibly leaving the S26Ultra with older battery tech and the S 26 Edge with slow charging speeds.
According to leaker Ice Universe, Samsung is moving forward with previously rumored plans to deliver charging speeds “exceeding” 45W on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, making it the first time the company has moved beyond its previous speed cap. This leak is allegedly “100% confirmed,” and considering it’s not the first time Ice Universe has shared details on the S26 Ultra’s charging capabilities — not to mention the leaker’s excellent track record — I’m inclined to assume it’s really happening.
It is 100% confirmed that Samsung S26 Ultra will exceed the charging power of 45w!

Unfortunately, we don’t have much more in the way of details here. Samsung could match one of its rivals — perhaps mirroring Motorola’s typical 68W charging speeds seen on devices like the Razr Ultra, or the 80W rating used by OnePlus devices in the US — or it could chart its own path with a compromise between those ultra-high speeds and its current 45W limit. We’ll have to wait for future rumors for a clearer picture of what the company plans.
Samsung has demonstrated plenty of fear over the past decade on pushing any envelope when it comes to batteries in its smartphones — really, ever since the Note 7 debacle in 2016 — but it seems like that trepidation is finally going away. In addition to potential upgrades to the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s charging speeds, we learned this morning that the Galaxy S26 Edge may potentially sport a larger silicon-carbon battery. Unfortunately, neither device seems like it will benefit from both improvements, possibly leaving the S26 Ultra with older battery tech and the S26 Edge with slow charging speeds. Only time will tell.
