Governor nominee travels to Roanoke on campaign trail
Democratic nominee Abigail Spanberger spoke at the Transportation Museum. She spoke on issues such as education and the car tax. Spanberger is battling against the Republican’s pick for Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears.Regardless of who wins, they will be the first woman to serve as Governor in Virginia’S History. The election will be held on November 4. The race is expected to be close.
She spoke on issues such as education.
“Making sure that I’m listening to teachers to hear how it impacts them, the worries that they carry at this moment, and how that should inform the decisions that I will make certainly along the campaign trail, but ultimately when I’m elected governor as well,” Spanberger said.
Lieutenant Governor Nominee Ghazala Hashmi joined Spanberger at the Transportation Museum, a place she said represents a growing need in Southwest Virginia.
“Recognizing the value of rail is something that that I am always pleased to do as we look towards different ways that we can strengthen Virginia’s economy and make it make it easier for commerce across all ports, parts of the state,” she said.
According to Spanberger, the car tax is Virginia’s most hated tax, and during her rally, she made it clear that she has to work to remove the tax and find a way to replace the revenue lost from it.
“A full repeal of the car tax means a constitutional amendment, and it means replacing revenue. That is not an easy task,” Spanberger said.
“I will work with anyone, Democrats, Republicans, members of the General Assembly from any region across Virginia if they are serious about getting rid of this much, much-hated tax.”
Spanberger is battling against the Republican’s pick for Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears, on the ticket this November.
Regardless of who wins, they will be the first woman to serve as Governor in Virginia’s History.
