GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – Active Family Chiropractic experienced major damage to the inside of its Diers Avenue location after flooding overnight.

The business had about two feet of standing water in the parking lot, which engulfed the company vehicles past the front and rear bumpers.

Inside the building, employees were greeted with around 8 inches of water on the floors throughout the facility.

As a result of the flooding, the business turned off electricity inside to ensure everyone was safe from wet electronical equipment.

Director of Operations, Jenna Rivera said the damage is pretty bad inside the building.

“It’s pretty catastrophic to be honest. Throughout the entire clinic, drywall will have to be removed,” Rivera said. “Our first step right now is to get anything electronic lifted out of the water, salvaging computers, servers, X-ray equipment, tables, therapy units, different things like that, so right now, that’s kind of stage one.“

Rivera also said the next steps after that are to transfer equipment over to their office on Webb Road, which sustained minor damage from the flooding.

Rivera said the flooding will be hard to recover from financially.

“We’re a business, so we don’t have flood insurance,” Rivera said. “This isn’t an area that’s typically flooded, so we are in contact with our insurance provider, we are contacting I believe Paul Davis Restoration to help us get started on the cleanup efforts.”

She also said despite the tremendous damage to their Diers Avenue location, they still plan on taking appointments as usual at their Webb Road location.

“At this point, we’re able to accommodate every level of care that they had previously, we won’t be able to offer our laser treatment today, but we’ll get that figured out by tomorrow,” Rivera said.

Active Family Chiropractic’s open location is at 705 N. Webb Road in Grand Island.
