A massive exchange of fire broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Singhpura area of Kishtwar’s Chatroo in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning, officials said.
Around 3 to 4 terrorists are believed to be trapped in the ongoing encounter.

According to sources, after the initial exchange of fire, forces rushed into the spot where the terrorists were trapped.
The joint operation by the Indian Army, CRPF, and the J&K Police is underway. The area has been cordoned off as the forces are making efforts to neutralise the threat.

Two separate encounters took place in Shopian’s Keller area and Pulwama’s Tral on May 13 and May 15, respectively.
The security forces stepped up surveillance and search operations after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The local authorities have also cracked down on the terrorists by demolishing their houses in Jammu and Kashmir.

Follows last week’s successful anti-terror operation in Nadir village of Tral, where three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were eliminated by the security forces.

According to reports, around three to four terrorists have been surrounded by security personnel in the area.
Security forces have cordoned off the locality and are actively working to eliminate the threat.
A fierce exchange of gunfire is reportedly underway as the forces continue to engage the terrorists in a high-alert operation.
This latest operation follows last week’s successful anti-terror operation in Nadir village of Tral, where three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were eliminated by the security forces.
The slain terrorists were identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Amir Nazir Wani, and Yawar Ahmad Bhat, all residents of J&K’s Pulwama district.
Additional encounters were reported last week in Shopian’s Keller area on Tuesday and again in Tral’s Nadar region on Thursday.
These continuing counter-terror operations are part of the security efforts across South Kashmir in response to the 22 April Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocent people, mostly tourists, were brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
The authorities have also begun demolishing properties linked to terrorists across J&K as part of broader crackdown on terrorism.
