Elon Musk has renewed his criticism of United States President Donald Trump’s extensive tax and spending cuts bill, labeling it “political suicide for the Republican Party” just as the Senate prepares for a crucial vote on the legislation, reported The Economic Times.

On Saturday (29 June), Musk argued that the legislation, which Republican senators are scrambling to pass by Trump’s Fourth of July deadline, would destroy jobs and hinder emerging industries.

“The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country,” Musk wrote on X.

He added, “It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO, whose birthday also fell on Saturday, later emphasised his belief that the bill would be “political suicide for the Republican Party.”

Musk’s recent criticisms reignite a fiery conflict with the Trump administration, which he recently left.

His comments also create another headache for Republican Senate leaders, who have been working overtime to secure the bill’s passage.

Musk previously called the bill “pork-filled” and a “disgusting abomination” after his departure from the federal government last month.

He had also threatened to fire lawmakers who “betrayed the American people.”

The wealthy GOP donor’s latest broadsides against the bill and Trump’s agenda could disrupt the fragile peace they had recently established.
