Adam Sandler didn’t bother just “tapping it in” when it came to sports cameos in “Happy Gilmore 2.” He took a long run-up and swung with all his might.
July 25 was the release date for the highly anticipated follow-up to “Happy Gilmore,” the 1996 comedy about a hockey player who turns into a golf sensation to earn money to preserve his grandmother’s house. In the sequel, Sandler’s titular character returns to continue his rivalry with Shooter McGavin, played by Christopher McDonald.
Unlike the original 30 years ago, “Happy Gilmore 2” is rife with cameos from some of the greats of golf. Current pro golfers from Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, winners of three of the four majors in 2025, to LIV Golf stars including Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka are in the movie. Jack Nicklaus has an appearance; sadly, Tiger Woods does not (neither does his son, Charlie Woods).
The sports cameos number in the dozens. Travis Kelce (aka Mr. Taylor Swift) is one of the NFL stars with a role. Are you a fan of the John Wick movies? NBA fan favorite Boban Marjanovic is reprising the role of Mr. Larson, the lumbering spectator whose foot served as a playing surface in the original. Verne Lundquist and Sir Nick Faldo are back as the main broadcast team from the first “Happy Gilmore,” and they’re joined by Stephen A. Smith, among other prominent ESPN personalities.
There are even more celebrities who appear in the film, from Bad Bunny to Guy Fieri, but the list of total celebrities is too long to count. Here’s a look at all the golf, football, hockey and other sports cameos in “Happy Gilmore 2,” plus how to watch the movie:
