FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Early Sunday morning, a man stole the 145 lb. change machine inside Itoro’s & Don’s Kwik Wash in Georgetown Center.

Now, the two sisters and co-owners, Melinda Green and Ohlashia Cowley, are sharing how the robbery has affected them and their business.

“For us to get robbed, that hurt, because we have to replace it. There’s a lot of money that was taken and a lot of money we have to put into replacing everything,” says Green.

The sisters say when they woke up Sunday morning, they were called by one of their employees, who said the change machine was nowhere to be found.

When they went to the store, there was just a hole where the machine had been.

The sisters say then they checked the security camera inside the laundromat and couldn’t believe what they saw.

They say they believe the bulge in the man’s sweatshirt is where he tried to hide the machine from the camera.

After this, Green says he exited through the back door, which he also broke.

“We were upset, she was really upset, crying because it’s our livelihood,” says Green.

Cowley says, Father’s Day is already tough because they lost their dad, and this only added to the pain of the day.

“I lost my father, and it was just a hard day, just in general, and then to having to deal with a change machine getting stolen on that day,” says Cowley.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time, and the sisters say they are going to increase security measures so something like this never happens again.
