Shadow foreign secretary Dame Priti Patel said US air strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities were “absolutely essential”.

Dame Priti told Sky News’s Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips: “America’s actions were absolutely essential.

“We have got to the stage, as we’ve seen in the last nine days or so, where Iran coming to the negotiation table simply was not happening in any constructive way. We had the IAEA report disclosing the extent to which Iran’s capabilities on nuclear were just increasing and they went beyond civilian capabilities.

“So these strikes were essential, I think the strikes from both Israel and from the United States – it’s quite clear that the American military was the only military capable of literally dropping those bombs on Fordo.”

The Witham MP added: “Iran is a terrorist state. They sponsor proxies.

“They harm us, for a start, they harm the UK and our interests, as well as chants of ‘death to America’ and their objective, which has always been to eliminate the state of Israel, which is simply not acceptable.”

Iran injures 86 Israeli citizens in furious barrage of missiles after US strikes Iranian nuclear sites

At least 27 ballistic missiles were launched into the Jewish State in two waves, striking 10 different locations on Sunday morning. As many as 86 Israeli citizens were injured in the bombing wave, including two children who were being treated at Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv. The injured had all reported to hospitals, with four in critical condition, two listed as moderate, three under medical evaluation and the remaining 77 having suffered “light” injuries. The missiles are the first counter-offensive launched by Iran since the United States dropped six 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s Fordow nuclear plant and 30 Tomahawk missiles at facilities in Esfahan and Natanz.

Iran injured at least 86 Israeli citizens in a furious barrage of missiles launched into the Jewish State Sunday, following the massive US strike against the Islamic Republic that obliterated three nuclear facilities Saturday.

At least 27 ballistic missiles were launched into the Jewish State in two waves, striking 10 different locations on Sunday morning, The Times of Israel reported, citing the Israel Defense Force.

As many as 86 Israeli citizens were injured in the bombing wave, including two children who were being treated at Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv and a man in his 30s who was moderately wounded from shrapnel, according to The Times of Israel and Israel’s health ministry.

The first volley of explosive projectiles included 22 missiles and the second was made up of as many as five bombs, the IDF stated Sunday.

Medics responded to impact sites in northern and central Israel just before 8 a.m. local time as citizens were told to seek shelter and warning sirens wailed through the air, according to the outlet.

Sheltering orders for Israeli citizens were lifted just before 8:20 a.m., that report stated.

Haifa, which sits on the Mediterranean coast in the northern part of Israel, was struck with a ballistic missile with no sirens signalling the incoming fire, according to The Times of Israel.

Explosions were heard and seen over the city of Jerusalem with projectiles exploding in the hazy morning sky, CNN reported.

Footage shared on social media showed the contrails of just a few of the dozens of ballistic missiles wafting in the sky.

Warning sirens also went off in Jordan, according to that report.

“Following the alarms that were heard in the last few minutes, MDA teams went out to search the scenes where reports were received,” emergency agency Magen David Adom said in a statement.

Israeli military officials stated earlier Sunday that the nation’s missile defense systems were fully operational, according to CNN.

The missiles are the first counter-offensive launched by Iran since the United States dropped six 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s Fordow nuclear plant and 30 Tomahawk missiles at facilities in Esfahan and Natanz.
