In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Helpline Center helped distribute free inspirational yard signs on Saturday. Community members and businesses were encouraged to pick up the 988 yard signs with various messages and display them.
Community members and businesses were encouraged to pick up the 988 yard signs with various messages and display them to show their support for mental wellness.
Those who helped hand out signs said sometimes, a simple reminder that there are resources available to help can make a difference.
“Often, especially in the Midwest, people just try to take care of their own problems without reaching out. By getting the word out there, it shows people that there are folks who care and want to help them,” said Kim Hansen with Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare.
Helpline Center wanted to remind people that the 988 suicide and crisis lifeline is available 24/7 for anyone experiencing distress, a mental health crisis, or substance use issues.
