Hollow Knight: Silksong will retail for less than £20/$20, leak suggests

Hollow Knight: Silksong will reportedly sell for around £17/$20/€20. That’s according to eagle-eyed Hollow Knight fans who spotted that the highly anticipated sequel was listed on Gamestop (link since deleted) for $20. It was thought this had to be a placeholder price, as the game has long been the most wishlisted title on the Steam platform. Since then, noted and usually reliable Dealabs leaker Billbil-Kun has all but confirmed the rumour.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will reportedly sell for around £17/$20/€20.

That’s according to eagle-eyed Hollow Knight fans who spotted that the highly anticipated sequel was listed on Gamestop (link since deleted) for $20.

Initially, it was thought this had to be a placeholder price, as the game has long been the most wishlisted title on the Steam platform. When players tried to purchase the game but couldn’t complete checkout, this only strengthened the feeling the listing had to have been incorrect.

However, since then, noted and usually reliable Dealabs leaker Billbil-Kun has all but confirmed the rumour, revealing not just the Steam prices for Hollow Knight: Silksong, but also the price point on GOG.

According to the leaker’s “recent research”, Silksong will indeed retail for less than £20/$20/€20:

UK: £16.75 (Steam) / (GOG Unknown)

Europe: €19.50 (Steam) / €8.29 (GOG)

U.S.: $19.99 (Steam) / $19.99 (GOG)

Canada: $25.99 (Steam) / $27.19 (GOG)

Australia: $29.50 (Steam) / $30.19 (GOG)

New Zealand: $28.99 (Steam) / (GOG Unknown)

Japan: (Steam Unknown) / ¥2939 (GOG)

The price points for console and Switch versions remain unknown. Dealabs did, however, add weight to rumours that there is no physical version of the game planned at this time.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on Thursday, 4th September 2025 for PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series. Yet contrary to what you may believe, Silksong hasn’t been in development hell for that time, however – in fact, Team Cherry’s developers say they were just having too much fun making it.

The end of months of speculation has not been good news for all, of course; announcing the date so late in the game’s development – a mere two weeks from release – meant a slew of games which already had early September release dates suddenly found themselves in a difficult position.

As AAA games try to push $80 price tags, Hollow Knight Silksong leaks suggest it’ll only be $5 more expensive than the first game

Leaks suggest Hollow Knight Silksong will retail digitally for $20. This is only a modest jump from the first game in the series, which came out eight whole years ago. 2017’s Hollow Knight costs $15 in the USA without a discount, so the alleged Silksongs price is far more reasonable than most people expected from a sequel that’s been in development for almost a decade.

Leaks suggest the long-awaited Hollow Knight Silksong will retail digitally for $20 – only a modest jump from the first game in the series, which came out eight whole years ago.

Hollow Knight fans were quick to spot and share a now-deleted Gamestop listing for Silksong’s Switch 2 version, which allegedly retailed for $20. Of course, this could have just been a placeholder listing since multiple commentors claimed they couldn’t go through checkout and actually purchase the sequel.

But where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and normally-reliable leaker Billbil-Kun corroborated the listing with their own “recent research”, all but confirming that Silksong will, in fact, cost about $20. According to them, the final retail price on Steam will be $19.99/£16.75/€19.50 with slightly varied GOG pricing.

Prices for consoles still remain a mystery and there’s a chance the above costs are also subject to change, but if all the rumblings turn out to be true, then Team Cherry’s only bumped up the price from the original by $5 or so. 2017’s Hollow Knight costs $15 in the USA without a discount, so the alleged Silksong price is far more reasonable than most people expected from a sequel that’s been in development for almost a decade.

Plus, gaming costs have gone up across the board. Some publishers have tried to push $80 AAA games onto the market, while others are happy to stick with a still pricey $70 tag. And even other indie games like Hades 2 are understandably more expensive than their predecessors, making a $5 jump a pretty good deal.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has now delayed at least 8 indie games in the 5 days since its September release date was announced: “I feel like a little krill trying to not get eaten by a blue whale”
