As of Sunday, there’s no active tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, and nothing is expected to develop within the next week.

Typically in June, tropical development favors the Gulf of Mexico and the gulf stream waters.

This is due to stalled fronts sometimes seeing low pressure development in these zones and warm waters of the ocean enabling development.

Tropical waves from Africa can sometimes spawn tropical storms/hurricanes in June but this isn’t a common occurrence. That usually happens later into summer as Atlantic waters continue to warm and upper level conditions get less hostile.

Hurricane Season lasts until November 30.
