If K Chandrasekhar Rao willing, I’ll visit him to discuss Krishna water, says Telangana CM Revanth Reddy
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy expressed his willingness to go to the Erravelli farmhouse of former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao ( KCR ) to discuss the issue of projects and sharing of Krishna water with Andhra Pradesh. The CM said the govt was always ready to hold a separate assembly session for discussion if KCR was open to attending it. He said that when it came to Telangana’s water share, KCR had betrayed the people of state more than leaders from Andhra under United AP.
HYDERABAD: Amidst the war of words between Congress and BRS over water rights, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday expressed his willingness to go to the Erravelli farmhouse of former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao ( KCR ) to discuss the issue of projects and sharing of Krishna water with Andhra Pradesh. The CM said the govt was always ready to hold a separate assembly session for discussion if KCR was open to attending it.Addressing ministers, MPs and MLAs at Praja Bhavan following a detailed presentation on Krishna water sharing, he said: “We are ready whenever you (KCR) notify the Speaker. Let’s review the decisions made during your tenure and ours. I assure you that there will be no confusion and that everyone’s dignity will be upheld. If your health does not allow you to attend, please inform us of a suitable date.I will arrange for a team of ministers to conduct a mock assembly at your Erravelli farmhouse. If necessary, I am also willing to participate with public representatives at the Erravelli farmhouse.””But I can come only to the farmhouse or assembly, not to clubs and pubs,” the CM said. The CM said that when it came to Telangana’s water share, KCR had betrayed the people of state more than leaders from Andhra under United AP.”If a single whip is warranted for Andhra leaders during united AP, then KCR deserves a hundred whips for his actions,” he said. The CM also asked KCR why he did not exert pressure for Hyderabad’s water share.”When the water share was being determined, the argument should have been that Hyderabad is a common quota for both AP and Telangana as 20% of AP population resides here. If that had been arranged, Hyderabad would not be facing difficulties in securing Krishna water,” he said.Highlighting that BRS govt failed to construct projects at Jurala, which allowed AP to extract more water, the CM said, “If water had been redirected from Jurala to Palamuru Rangareddy, AP would not have had that opportunity. If Krishna water had been captured immediately upon entering Telangana, there would have been no chance to divert it to Rayalaseema. The diversion of water rendered the power project ineffective, resulting in losses for Telangana in terms of electricity. We missed the chance to obtain power at a lower cost.”The CM said that during the Congress administration in United AP water was supplied to 54 lakh acres and the cost per acre was Rs93,000.
