UI Health Security and the University of Illinois-Chicago Police Department responded, taking the employee into custody and confiscating the weapon.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Officials say that after the employee was released from custody, he allegedly shot two people at an off-campus residence, one of whom was also an Aramark employee. There was no immediate update on their condition.

The suspect remains at-large, according to police.

“We are fully cooperating with the authorities on their investigation and the person involved is no longer with our organization,” Aramark said in a statement.

Chicago police are leading an investigation into the shooting itself, while UIC police are stepping up security protocols at the OCC Clinic on Tuesday, setting up a command post at the facility and tightening access procedures.

Chicago police were called to an area near the clinic just before 1 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a person with a gun, but those reports were not bona fide, authorities said.
