After a social media post claiming that an Indian national was detained at Newark Airport in New Jersey, went viral, India has now formally raised the matter with the US Embassy in New Delhi, as per ANI sources.Indian Embassy in Washington DC and the Indian Consulate in New York have also been in touch with the US authorities to ascertain the details, sources told ANI.”We have so far have not received any details about the incident or the circumstances under which he was restrained, the flight he had to board or boarded and his final destination. A video was shared by X user Kunal Jain, an Indian-American social entrepreneur who writes books in Hindi, and recently relocated to India.According to Singh, the incident occurred at Newark Airport. He tagged the Indian Embassy, as well as external affairs minister S Jaishankar, seeking help for the boy. “I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal.He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy,” he posted on his social media handle.As per the Ministry of External Affairs, the administration of US President Donald Trump, since assuming power in January, has deported as many as 1,080 Indian nationals from America.
