The action comes after the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force (SCDETF) informed the council of their ongoing investigation.
The task force said evidence showed them that some females may have been working at the businesses illegally and possibly only employed to perform illegal sex acts.
Three people had been arrested and the investigation involves multiple locations throughout Shelby County, the task force said.
Court records show cases of two suspects have been sent to a grand jury, and the third awaits a hearing later this year.
