Israel-Iran conflict LIVE: Trump called Netanyahu, asked him not to attack Iran, reports Reuters citing Axios
Israel and Iran on Tuesday (June 24, 2025) accepted a ceasefire plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end their 12-day war that roiled the Middle East. Tehran launched a retaliatory limited missile attack on a U.s. military base in Qatar. Iran said the volley matched the number of bombs dropped by the United States on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
U.S. President Trump’s announcement that Israel and Iran had agreed to a “complete and total ceasefire” came soon after Iran launched a limited missile attack on Monday (June 23, 2025) on a U.S. military base in Qatar, retaliating for the American bombing of its nuclear sites. Israel so far has not acknowledged the Trump ceasefire announcement.
Earlier, Iran launched missiles at U.S. bases in Qatar and Iraq in retaliation for Washington’s strikes on the country’s nuclear sites. Qatar hosts one of the largest U.S. bases in West Asia. Qatar condemned the attack on Al Udeid Air Base and said no one was injured. Qatar Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said the missiles were intercepted by Qatari air defences.
