Jeff Bezos wedding: Ivanka Trump among ultra-wealthy A-Listers arriving for $48m celebration
Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner arrived in Venice for Jeff Bezos’ $48million wedding to Lauren Sanchez. Greenpeace and the UK-based activist group Everyone Hates Elon (EHE) are braced to express their fury at the extravagant affair. Jeff, 61, already had to change plans as Venice residents have threatened to blockade the city’s historic canals with inflatable crocodiles. 200 guests enjoy a pre-wedding gala dinner tonight and then several other festivities across three days. Other members of the Trump family are said to be among the 200 guests as well as Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian. Jeff is determined for his wedding to go ahead without any further snags as he has been dating Miss Sánchez, a news reporter, for some seven years. The groups complain Mr Bezos, the second-richest man in the world yet is reported to pay a 1.1% true tax rate.

Ivanka Trump was among the super wealthy guests arriving for Jeff Bezos’ $48million wedding to Lauren Sanchez. Threats of protests from activists aren’t stopping the A-list stars from attending the billionaire’s nuptials in Venice, Italy, this week.

They are so unhappy the billionaire “will shutting down Venice” that Mr Bezos has scrambled to move the ceremony itself from the 16th-century Scuola Grande della Misericordia to Arsenale, a vast, fortress-like complex of shipyards and warehouses once used to build Venetian warships.
Amid the chaos, Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner were seen touching down in the city to celebrate the lavish event.

Among the early arrivals was Jeff’s adoptive father Miguel Bezos. Other members of the Trump family are said to be among the 200 guests as well as Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry, Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian.
Meanwhile, Jeff is determined for his wedding to go ahead without any further snags as he has been dating Miss Sánchez, a news reporter, for some seven years.
It is likely no challenges will arise once the 200 guests arrive to the tiny island of San Giovanni Evangelista for Thursday’s dinner. Just 11 people live on the island and its only dwelling is a modest five-bedroom home, previously the guesthouse to a convent which was part of a long-destroyed monastery complex.
However, on mainland Venice, where most of the A-list guest will be staying, EHE and Greenpeace protesters unfurled a giant 20x20m message close to the spot where the Amazon founder is to marry his partner.
The banner, in the city’s famous St Mark’s Square, reads: “IF YOU CAN RENT VENICE FOR YOUR WEDDING YOU CAN PAY MORE TAX.” The groups complain Mr Bezos, a father of four, is the second-richest man in the world yet is reported to pay a 1.1% true tax rate.
A spokesperson from EHE explained: “As governments talk about hard choices and struggle to fund public services, Jeff Bezos can afford to shut down half a city for days on end just to get married. Just weeks ago, he spent millions on an 11-minute space trip. If there was ever a sign billionaires like Bezos should pay wealth taxes, it’s this.
“While ordinary people struggle to pay the bills, there are more billionaires than ever before. These two things are obviously connected – they’re getting richer at our expense. It’s not rocket science: tax billionaires like Jeff Bezos now.”

Venice has already seen guests flocking to the city for Amazon boss Jeff Bezos’s lavish multimillion-pound wedding set to unfold this weekend. The tycoon is all set to wed Lauren Sanchez in the historic Italian city, with the pair gearing up for three days of extravagant festivities that are rumoured to be setting them back a hefty €48m (£41m).
The high-profile event has sparked a celebrity-watching frenzy in Venice, with one woman making it her personal mission to catch a glimpse of Bezos himself. But, as fate would have it, her plans took an intriguing turn.
In her pursuit, she believes she encountered someone equally famous. Captioning footage of her escapade, she penned: “When you’re looking for Jeff Bezos in Venice but find Michael Jordan.”
In a humorous twist, after failing to locate the Amazon founder, she zooms in on a different spectacle and exclaims: “This is way more exciting. This is Michael Jordan’s yacht.
“Michael, come out. Oh my gosh, M’Brace, M’Brace.”
For those not in the know, basketball legend Michael Jordan is the proud owner of a colossal superyacht named M’Brace. The 224-foot behemoth, worth a staggering $115 million (£85.4 million), was crafted by Abeking & Rasmussen and previously bore the name Elandess, before being acquired by Jordan.
Although the yacht was sighted, it remains unconfirmed whether Jordan is actually in Venice at present. Last month, an anecdote about an American family obliviously dining next to Jordan in a Venetian eatery captured viral attention.
Yet, the video wasn’t recent – it simply reignited conversation. During the encounter, the basketball legend engaged with the family, shared laughs and exchanged handshakes before departing.
This week, reports surfaced that a convoy of extravagant superyachts had descended upon Venice for the wedding, with one reportedly owned by Jordan. His attendance at the nuptials, however, has yet to be verified.
M’Brace was among the vessels spotted cruising Venice’s waters as wedding preparations got underway. The ex-NBA star, whose fortune is estimated at $3.5 billion (£2.7 billion) acquired the 244-foot luxury craft a few years back.

The yacht is said to boast amenities such as an observation deck, an al fresco bar, an outdoor shower and a swimming platform, as per reports. In proximity, Shahid Khan, a Pakistani-American tycoon valued at $13.1 billion and owner of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, moored his $360 million (£266 million) yacht, dubbed Kismet.
Following the online circulation of the video, one spectator commented: “He’s probably there for the wedding.” Another inquired: “Where do they dock those yachts?”

The location of the couple’s nuptials has been kept a closely guarded secret but, according to Reuters news agency, their wedding party has been relocated from the city centre at the last minute.
Originally, it was planned to be held at Scuola Grande della Misericordia, but a source informed Reuters that it will now occur at the Arsenale.
The 14th-century complex is encircled by water and becomes inaccessible by land when the bridges are lifted. It’s reported that guests have already begun arriving in the city.

NFL legend Tony Gonzalez, along with his wife, October ‘Tobie’ Gonzalez, and their son Nikko, are set to attend the lavish wedding of his ex-partner, Lauren Sanchez, and billionaire Jeff Bezos in Venice, Italy.
The dynamic guest list, revealed by TMZ, comes as something of an unexpected twist: although Gonzalez and Sanchez dated in the early 2000s, they’ve maintained a close friendship — one that even includes Tobie. Sanchez, who posted a message for her son in February, previously describing both as her “best friends” despite the occasional early friction.

Pre-wedding celebrations included a foam party aboard Bezos’s $500 million superyacht, Koru, in Croatia.
Gonzalez and his wife have been spotted enjoying European travels — with Tobie sharing a montage featuring Rome and Tuscany — leading up to the festivities. While Sanchez refrained from publicly announcing guest names, Tobie’s “see you soon” Instagram comment confirms their reciprocal goodwill.
Bezos and Sanchez, engaged in May 2023 (with an iconic 30-carat pink diamond ring), officially confirmed the June wedding through Venice’s Mayor’s office, noting the city will host approximately 200 attendees.
The ceremony is expected at San Giorgio Maggiore, with pre- and post-celebrations at palazzos and gardens.
The event hasn’t escaped controversy. Venetian locals have organized protests against the weddings, citing concerns about overtourism and disruption. In response, organizers have pledged to employ local labor, minimize disturbance, and even urge guests to make donations in lieu of gifts to preserve Venetian heritage.

Still, amid the glittering guest list, the emotional resonance of a former couple walking into a once-shared chapter speaks volumes.
Tony and Lauren’s presence highlights how modern families navigate complexity — especially when there’s a child at the center, as their son Nikko, now 24, is expected to be part of the celebration too.
Bezos and Sanchez first met in 2016 at a Hollywood gathering — introduced by her then-husband, talent agent Patrick Whitesell — and later collaborated when Bezos hired Sanchez’s aviation firm to shoot aerial footage for Blue Origin, deepening their bond before going public with their relationship in 2019.

Before his support during his 2024 campaign, the president had been on the outs with Jeff since 2015, just before he ran for the first time.
At the time, Trump threw the first public blow as he took to X, at the time Twitter, to accuse Jeff of using the Washington Post as a “tax shelter” for Amazon.
He wrote, “The @washingtonpost loses money (a deduction) and gives owner @JeffBezos power to screw public on low taxation of @Amazon!”
“Finally trashed by @realDonaldTrump. Will still reserve him a seat on the Blue Origin rocket. #sendDonaldtospace,” Jeff hit back, referencing his astronautics company.
After a cold few years, the two reportedly hashed it out over a phone call, which was initiated by the “pissed” president, according to Vanity Fair.

Although they are on better terms, it is unsure if the president has received an invitation and if he will attend.
