The Pittsburgh Steelers have boasted a couple of all-time greats when it comes to quarterbacks. Terry Bradshaw led the 70s Steelers to four Super Bowls, while Ben Roethlisberger won another two in the 2000s, while losing one to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers after the 2009 season.

Two quarterbacks with six wins in seven appearances for Pittsburgh is pretty impressive.

Even with Big Ben’s two wins in three appearances, another quarterback who doesn’t even have one has overtaken him on one weird list.

CBS Sports’ Tyler Dunne ranked the top 30 quarterbacks in NFL history, and curiously ranks current Buffalo Bills signal caller Josh Allen one spot ahead of Roethlisberger.

“There is no comp because no quarterback in NFL history remotely resembles the force of nature cannon-blasting through defenses in Western New York. You’d need to go full Dr. Frankenstein, piecing together Ben Roethlisberger’s size, Brett Favre’s right arm with an A-level mix of brainsandelusivenessandathleticism. But the greatest trait Allen possesses is an abundance of fearlessness,” Dunne wrote.

“He’s the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 reason these Buffalo Bills are in perennial title contention. Teammates en masse would run through the nearest cement wall for Allen. When it’s all said and done — if he can hoist a Lombardi or two — we may all discuss Allen with the very best who’ve ever played the position.”

I guess, depending on what you use to rank quarterbacks, there is a scenario where Allen could be ranked above Roethlisberger. But that ranking system seems like it would be flawed.

Roethlisberger appeared in three Super Bowls and won two … in the first eight years of his career. Allen will enter Year 8 in 2025 and has lost two AFC Championship games.

It doesn’t even seem comparable to me.
