Julia Fox Shares Her Honest Thoughts on Celebrities Gatekeeping Their Cosmetic Procedures
Julia Fox is supporting the “new wave of women” who are open about cosmetic procedures. The Uncut Gems actress stepped out for the premiere of her new movie The Trainer on June 7. She told People that being dishonest about what work you’ve had done can negatively impact other women’s expectations. She also emphasized the importance of normalizing natural beauty standards by telling women “there’s nothing wrong with you, like you’re perfect the way you are and this is all smoke and mirrors, sweetie.’“I love it. I think we should be honest,” she said.
While stepping out The Trainer premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, Fox weighed in on celebrities like Kylie Jenner sharing the details behind their enhancements.
The Uncut Gems actress has previously opened up about going under the knife.
Just days after Kylie Jenner and Kris Jenner broke with tradition by sharing the details (and plastic surgeons) behind their cosmetic enhancements, Julia Fox is sharing her thoughts on celebrities’ newfound transparency about going under the knife. While stepping out for the premiere of her new movie The Trainer at Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, June 7, Fox was resoundingly supportive of the “new wave of women” who are no longer gatekeeping their cosmetic procedures from fans.
“I love it. I think we should be honest,” Fox—who turned heads on the red carpet in a semi-sheer white asymmetrical dress paired with a matching cap and electric blue eyeshadow—told People. She explained that being dishonest about what work you’ve had done can negatively impact other women’s expectations, arguing, “Women set the bar for each other and I feel like if you’re setting an unrealistic bar … that’s really great for you, but what about all the girls that are so impressionable and feeling like ‘Wait, why don’t I look like that and what’s wrong with me?'”

Despite being open about the cosmetic procedures she’s had done—she told Elle in 2023 that she’s had Botox and liposuction—Fox emphasized the importance of normalizing natural beauty standards by telling women “there’s nothing wrong with you, like you’re perfect the way you are and this is all smoke and mirrors, sweetie.”

She added, “It’s like, girl, none of us look like this, you know what I mean? Like we all look really different without the surgery and without the fillers and without the makeup and all the things we do and the face tapes and the wigs and the tanning creams. The list goes on. On and on and on.”

While Fox has said she’d consider getting more cosmetic procedures done, she told Elle that she’d shifted her attitude about going under the knife with a celebratory attitude about aging. “I’m, like, saggy—like, things are not sitting the way they used to. But it’s like, I am not gonna do a damn thing about it,” she shared.
