And with a new documentary film slated to come out, viewers are expected to get an inside look into the private life of the troubled “Golddigger” hitmaker. This news comes on the heels of several prominent celebrities who have lately spoken out against West’s troublesome antics.

New Documentary Chronicles Kanye West Mental Health Struggles

When Kanye West first burst onto the rap scene in 2003 with his hit song “Through The Wire” from his equally successful album, The College Dropout, he was a fresh-faced and likable artist who seemed destined for great things. However, his impeccable image took a nose dive after a string of questionable behavior, which rubbed fellow celebrities, fans, and critics the wrong way. For example, in 2009, he famously stormed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards and snatched the award from Taylor Swift’s hand and announced that Beyoncé deserved the award instead. He also ruffled feathers a few years earlier in 2005 when he accused then-President George W. Bush of not caring about the African American community during a televised Hurricane Katrina benefit concert.

In recent years, West’s outlandish antics have only gotten worse, and today he is more known for his demeaning comments and bizarre public behavior than his music. Recently, the disgraced rapper made headline news after the trailer for his new documentary In Whose Name? was released. The documentary, which is directed by novice filmmaker Nico Ballesteros, chronicles the private and public life of Kanye West over the past six years. At one point in the nearly-minute-long trailer, West, who suffers from bipolar disorder, is captured having a meltdown. “I’m off my meds for five months now,” West says at one point. He then informs his now ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, who comments on his severely altered personality, “I would rather be dead than be on medication… Either they destroy me or I destroy it.. I’m almost like a masochist… I write whatever I want when I want! It’s words!” The documentary, which is scheduled to be released by AMSI Entertainment on September 19, has been described by the film’s producer, Simran A. Sing, as “a raw and often unsettling portrait of Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.”

Rapper Kid Cudi Lambasted Kanye West During Interview

As Kanye West gears up for the release of his controversial documentary, several of his colleagues have come out to speak out against his litany of antics, such as rapper Kid Cudi, who was also once friends with and a protégée of West’s.

During a recent interview with CBS News to promote his upcoming memoir titled “Cudi: The Memoir”, Kid Cudi relayed why he decided to cut all contact with West. “He said some things that there’s just no coming back from,” Cudi said, citing West’s harsh words against mutual friend fashion designer Virgil Abloh who passed away in 2021. Cudi later described West’s comments towards Abloh as the “most evil, vile, disturbing f**ked up things” he’d ever heard. As fans will recall, in early 2025 West wrote the following about Abloh in a since-deleted post on X “I LOVE TRAV VIRGIL AND DRAKE, DRAKE THE REALEST ONE OF THOSE THREE THOUGH HE NOT FAKE COOL HE’S JUST TALENTED AF,” he typed. “ AND YES ITS F**K VIRGIL AND ANY OF THESE OTHER N****S THAT WORKED FOR ME THAN USED ME THEN WENT AGAINST ME I LOVE VIRGIL AND HE USED THAT VERY LOVE TO BEAT NIGERIANS ARE SUPER SMART.”

Cudi also said about West during the interview that: “The freedom that we experienced when we were creating, it just will never happen again, you know? And that is the heartbreaking side of things. But, hey, I had a lot of things in my life break my heart, and I’ve been able to survive and move past it.”
