King Charles Gives Rare Update on Health as He Continues Cancer Treatment

King Charles made a rare but candid statement about the current state of his health while on a public outing on Tuesday. While visiting the town of Newmarket, England with Queen Camilla, the King connected with a cancer survivor while on a walkabout there.

“I asked him how he was, and he said he was feeling a lot better now and that it was ‘just one of those things,’” the cancer survivor, Lee Harman, told the PA news agency, per Hello . “He asked me how I was and I said ‘I’m all good,’ I got the all clear from cancer last year.”

Since his diagnosis last year, King Charles has rarely spoken about his health. However, in May, he spoke with with a guest at one of Buckingham Palace’s summer garden parties. According to The Telegraph , Stamford Collis, 22, an international relations student at Exeter University who is also undergoing cancer treatment, said, “He was asking me about the treatment I have starting in June and spoke to me about food and diet. He also asked me if I had undergone radiation treatment, which I had earlier this year.” The King later said, per the news report, “It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help.”

And, on an outing in Northern Ireland in March, he shared some advice with cancer patients . During his visit to Ulster University, the King asked those who were undergoing treatment if they were managing to “survive the side effects alright,” saying, “You just have to push on, don’t you.”

King Charles first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in February 2024, but Buckingham Palace said they would not be sharing what type of cancer Charles has , only specifying it was not prostate cancer. At the end of last year, a Palace source confirmed to T&C : “His treatment has been moving in a positive direction and as a managed condition the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”

There have been no updates on King Charles’s health this year, though he was briefly hospitalized in March due to “temporary side effects” from his ongoing cancer treatment. The Palace did not specify the nature of the side effects.
