LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – One business owner wanted to bring positivity to his city after a string of incidents in the past few weeks.

Kross Carmichael, the owner of Laurel Laundry Co., says he wants to forget the negativity and bring more smiles to the community.

He hosted a free laundry day where people could get their laundry washed and dried, free of charge.

“Our town is all we have, and we have to show pride in our town and our people. We’ve been blessed with this business and the community, and we just want to support that,” Carmichael said.

Local businesses and organizations partnered with Carmichael to make even more things available for people.

Along with getting their laundry done for free, people could also enjoy free haircuts, massages, health checks, food and more.

Carmichael says the community coming together just for this event is what makes Laurel special.

“We’ve got so many businesses that came, unsolicited, wanted to help us, donate their time, energy, and resources. It’s really helped pull this thing together,” Carmichael told WDAM 7.

Laurel Laundry Co. hosted a raffle as well. One lucky winner received a basket full of laundry supplies and apparel.
