Law enforcement is investigating a homicide at Burning Man

A man died at Burning Man in an apparent homicide, the local sheriff’s department said Sunday.
On Saturday night, during the annual burning of the Nevada desert festival’s effigy, an event participant notified a sheriff’s office deputy that a man was lying in a pool of blood, the sheriff’s office said.
The Pershing County sheriff’s office said the man’s identity was unknown, and it appeared to be “a singular crime.”

Burning Man organizers said in a statement that the festival was cooperating with law enforcement.
A representative for the sheriff’s office declined further comment on the phone.
This year, more than 70,000 festival goers were expected to trek into the desert in Black Rock City, Nevada.
