Madison Keys, ranked No. 6, fell in the third round at Wimbledon after losing in straight sets to Laura Siegemund, 6-3, 6-3, on Friday. No. 22 Siegemund will advance to the round of 16 with the decisive upset.

The German player established an early lead in the first frame as Keys failed to close the gap and dropped the set. The second set had a similar theme as Keys tried to climb out of a 5-3 hole, but Siegemund shut the door and took the victory.

At 37, Siegemund became the oldest female player to reach the round of 16 in the open era. Siegemund has yet to drop a set in the tournament, acing her first two games against Peyton Stearns and Leylah Fernandez. She will take on Solana Sierra on Sunday for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Keys’ Wimbledon campaign ends after stacking hard-fought victories over Elena-Gabriela Ruse and Olga Danilović. Keys’ loss now adds to a notable number of upsets at Wimbledon, including No. 2 Coco Gauff and No. 3 Jessica Pegula crashing out of the first round. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is the last remaining top-five-seeded player in the women’s singles bracket.

In the men’s singles event at Wimbledon, Jasmine Paolini, Tommy Paul, Frances Tiafoe and Jack Draper all exited the tournament in the second round.
