Man Says Girlfriend Can’t Afford to Sit in Business Class with Him on Flight
A Mumnet user shared that he’s torn between staying in business class or downgrading to economy to sit with his girlfriend and her child on their upcoming long haul flight. The boyfriend explained on the community forum Mumsnet that the woman he’s been dating for 12 months can’t afford to fly business class with him on their trip from Europe to Australia to visit her family. “Should me and my bad back suck it up and travel down the back of the plane or or am I being unreasonable to sit up front while they are down theback?” he asked.
“She’s happy to pay her way down the back but can’t stretch to a business class fare, especially for two,” he explained

A man is still up in the air about his travel plans with his girlfriend.
The boyfriend explained on the community forum Mumsnet that the woman he’s been dating for 12 months can’t afford to fly business class with him on their upcoming trip from Europe to Australia to visit her family.
“She has a little boy and has a reasonable income,” he wrote. “I am lucky to be able to afford to fly business class. It’s a long way and I’m getting old and grumpy and don’t want to sit for 30 hours in a cramped seat.”
He noted that a roundtrip ticket in business class will cost roughly $6,700 versus a roundtrip economy class seat at $1,900.

“Now I feel bad that I can’t really sit up front with them down the back,” he added, before asking the forum for advice. “Should me and my bad back suck it up and travel down the back of the plane or or am I being unreasonable to sit up front while they are down the back?”
In a Mumsnet poll under his post, 66 percent of the more than 600 voters picked “You are being unreasonable” as their voting option.

“If my partner sat in business while I was in economy it would be the end of the relationship,” one reader replied, seemingly in disbelief of the man.
Another Mumsnet user agreed, commenting, “If you’re looking at any situation as ‘I can’ versus ‘we can’ then in the long-term there’s no future.”
