Millions of people traveling across New England for long holiday weekend
3 million people were expected to travel across the New England region this Fourth of July weekend. In Connecticut, 23 percent of the population was expected totravel by either car or plane. The weekend is one of busiest of the year on our roads with most people traveling by car.
“We kind of left at the worst possible time on Saturday morning, but right not it’s pretty good,” said Douglas Russo outside the Southington rest stop Sunday morning. “Going forward from now on, in the future years, we’ll definitely make that the right decision, leaving early.”

As people are coming back, Bette Saltzman and her family are heading out.
“We left this morning,” said Saltzman who is traveling to Martha’s Vineyard. “Everything’s been very clear, smooth sailing so far.”
