The Community Foundation of Monroe County has awarded $180,518 in grants to five local nonprofits to tackle health challenges in the area.

The funding, sourced from the Monroe Health Plan Endowment Fund, aims to support projects that enhance health and well-being in Monroe County, according to an announcement.

Airport Community Schools received $9,950 to expand its Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) program, which focuses on the health, safety and empowerment of middle school girls. The funding will allow the program to grow from serving 70 girls annually to about 110, providing leadership development, mentoring and educational resources.

Call for Backup was granted $35,000 to provide mental health training for Monroe County’s emergency services personnel. The initiative will equip 50 first responders with Critical Incident Stress Management training and 250 with Mental Health First Aid, helping them build resilience and manage crises effectively.

The Monroe Family YMCA received $25,000 to implement a water safety and junior lifeguard training program for 150 at-risk youth. The initiative aims to remove financial and logistical barriers, ensuring more children have the skills to stay safe in the water.

The Monroe County Intermediate School District was awarded $85,568 to launch the Care Solace program, a mental health navigation service. The program will connect students, staff and families with mental health providers, serving more than 25,000 residents by helping with referrals, appointment scheduling and insurance navigation.

Monroe Puente received $25,000 to expand its Bilingual Community Health Worker Program, which addresses healthcare barriers for the county’s immigrant and Spanish-speaking communities. The expansion will strengthen support for maternal health, chronic disease management and social services access.

The CFMC Health Endowment Grant process aims to support collaborative projects with lasting impact, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving community health through innovation and partnership.
