PHILIPPI — The Philippi Convention & Visitors Bureau has welcomed another small business to it business district. Saffle’s, a variety store, is located at the side of Fisher Auto Parts at 16418 Barbour County Highway in Philippi.

Owner of the store Kim Saffle says while she is related to the owner of the Buckhannon store, the Philippi store is a stand-alone business and not associated with the other area business. Regular business hours for the business are Monday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Tuesday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The store may be reached via its Facebook page.

The Philippi variety store specializes in furniture, tools, bedding, gifts and primitives., but this is not all that is available. A recent look at Saffle’s Facebook page showed Rada cutlery and other cooking utensils and a vaAccording to the owner, the Philippi store came about because of her son, who wanted to honor his grandfather, who owned the Buckhannon Saffles Goodies. The son told his grandfather he was going to open Saffle stores across the country. Philippi was the first location chosen because, according to Kim Saffle, she has discovered Philippi residents frequently shop in town rather than going elsewhere. She thought placing a Saffles store in Philippi would take advantage of this shopping practice.
