Nintendo Switch 2 sets U.S. gaming record with over 1.1 million units sold at launch, best-selling physical games revealed
Nintendo Switch 2 sold over 1.1 million units in its first week in the U.S. That’s more than any other system has managed to do in the United States previously. The top seller was Mario Kart World, followed by Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
For the week ending June 7, 2025, the new console sold over 1.1 million units. That’s more than any other system has managed to do in the U.S. previously, and that’s without counting sales from the My Nintendo Store. PlayStation 4 previously held the record.
It’s currently projected that the full first week of U.S. sales is at 1.3 – 1.35 million. However, that number has not been fully confirmed.
What were the best-selling physical Nintendo Switch 2 games at launch in terms of units sold? The top seller was Mario Kart World. Following in second was Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition came in third. Speaking of Mario Kart World, 79 percent of U.S. Nintendo Switch 2 buyers purchased the title either physically or as part of the hardware bundle.
Nintendo confirmed this week that Switch 2 is the company’s fastest-selling hardware ever in the U.S. It also achieved the highest worldwide sales for any Nintendo platform in its first four days.
