“With turquoise shallows, hidden coves, and a lively summer sandbar, this lake is a dazzling northern escape,” Travel + Leisure reported.
The magazine also praised the lake’s recreational offerings.
“Boaters and swimmers flock here for a laid-back, beach-style experience right on the water, with excellent visibility for swimming, snorkeling, or even scuba diving,” the site stated.
For those whose perfect vacation involves bait and a fishing pole, the township flaunts the lake’s variety of fish, which includes lake trout, rock bass, yellow perch, small mouth bass, pike, brown trout, rainbow trout and whitefish. The surrounding area is also home to “scenic trails,” “local markets” and “great sports to grab a bite,” Travel + Leisure reported.
Torch Lake Township prides itself on welcoming summer visitors without becoming a “tourist trap.”
“There are no strip-malls filled with shops selling trinkets,” the township website reads. “Our home is simple – and we like it that way.”
The surrounding area is home to a variety of cabins, cottages and houses available for vacation rentals. For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, the area also includes multiple campgrounds with sites for RVs and tents.

According to Travel + Leisure, mid-summer is the peak season for visiting Toch Lake. Then, the sandbar is active with visitors and water temperatures stay around 70 degrees, according to the magazine.
