2 Centennial nursing home employees accused of elder abuse, sheriff says
Patience Jackson, a 33-year-old certified nursing assistant at Orchard Park Health Care Center, was arrested. A warrant is out for Zainab Namale, a licensed practical nurse at the same facility, sheriff’s officials said. Jackson was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and is being held on a $2,500 bond.
Patience Jackson, a 33-year-old certified nursing assistant at Orchard Park Health Care Center, was arrested on investigation of three felony charges, including criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk person and complicity, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators also issued an arrest warrant for Zainab Namale, a licensed practical nurse at the same facility, sheriff’s officials said.
Jackson and Namale lied about how a 92-year-old nursing home resident broke her leg and worked to cover up what really happened, sheriff’s officials said.
Sky Ridge Medical Center employees told investigators that the victim’s injuries — two broken bones in her lower leg — were not consistent with what Jackson and Namale wrote in their nursing home report.
That report said the victim was found sitting in her wheelchair, screaming for help in terrible pain, that no one had seen her fall and the employees did not know what happened, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators believe the 92-year-old’s broken leg, which happened on May 8, was caused by criminal negligence.
Jackson was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and is being held on a $2,500 bond. A court date had not yet been scheduled as of Thursday morning.

Colorado nursing home employees arrested for elder abuse
Patience Jackson, 33, and Zainab Namale, a licensed practical nurse, have been arrested. A 92-year-old woman with severe dementia was found with broken bones in her lower leg. The woman’s injuries didn’t seem to match up with the report given to authorities by Orchard Park Health Care Center. The nursing home also reported that no one had seen her fall, and that they did not know what had happened, authorities said. She’s now facing charges of criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk person, and complicity.
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), 33-year-old Patience Jackson, an employee of the Orchard Park Health Care Center, was arrested at her home on June 11. She’s now facing charges of criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk person, and complicity – all class 5 felonies.

Authorities said that on May 9, an investigator was called to Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree to look into allegations of elder abuse against a 92-year-old woman suffering from severe dementia.
The investigator was called after hospital employees noticed the woman, who had been transported to the hospital via ambulance from Orchard Park Health Care Center, had two separate broken bones in her lower leg.
Hospital employees told the investigator that the woman’s injuries didn’t seem to match up with the report given to them by Orchard Park, who said that the woman was “found sitting in her wheelchair, screaming for help in terrible pain.” The nursing home also reported that no one had seen her fall, and that they did not know what had happened, ACSO said.
After a four-week investigation, investigators gathered evidence showing that two Orchard Park employees – Patience Jackson, a certified nursing assistant, and Zainab Namale, a licensed practical nurse – had provided false information about how the woman was injured and worked to hide the truth.
Investigators now believe the woman’s injuries occurred on May 8 and were the result of criminal negligence, a crime against an at-risk person, leading them to obtain arrest warrants for both employees.
ACSO said Jackson was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, where she’s being held on a $2,500 bond. There is currently an active arrest warrant for Namale.
The sheriff’s office said the case remains an active and ongoing investigation.
“If you ever encounter someone being abused, it is critical to take action,” ACSO said in a press release Wednesday. “Please contact your local law enforcement or County Department of Adult Protective Services. Your prompt response can make a difference in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable citizens.”

After nearly four weeks of investigation, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said the investigator determined that two female employees, Jackson and Namale, 34, were likely untruthful about how the victim obtained her injuries and that the injuries likely occurred on May 8. An arrest warrant was obtained for both employees.
Jackson was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility and remained in custody on a $2,500 bond.
Centennial nursing home employee arrested by deputies for elder abuse
Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office: Nursing home employee arrested for alleged abuse of 92-year-old. Deputies: Hospital employees said the woman had two separate broken bones in her lower leg. Two employees of the healthcare center, Patience Jackson, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and Zainab Namale, a Licensed Practical Nurse, were arrested.
Deputies said investigators were called to Sky Ridge Medical Center for an allegation of abuse against a woman who suffered from severe dementia.
Deputies shared that the hospital employees said the woman had two separate broken bones in her lower leg after being transported from Orchard Park Health Care Center.
Deputies said they were told by hospital staff that the victim’s injuries were not consistent with the injuries in the health care center’s report.
“That report noted that the victim was found sitting in her wheelchair, screaming for help in terrible pain, that no one had seen her fall, and they did not know what happened,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
During a four-week investigation, deputies said they gathered enough evidence to get arrest warrants for two employees of the healthcare center, Patience Jackson, a Certified Nursing Assistant, and Zainab Namale, a Licensed Practical Nurse.
According to deputies, they believed Jackson and Namale were dishonest about how the victim got her injuries and believed the suspects were complicit in hiding the truth of what happened to the victim. Deputies believe the victim’s injuries occurred on May 8 due to criminal negligence.
Deputies said Jackson was arrested on June 11 for criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk person and complicity. They did not say if Namale had been arrested as of Wednesday.

Two rehab center employees have been accused in the abuse that left a 92-year-old with broken bones, Colorado officials said.
On May 9, deputies were called to the Sky Ridge Medical Center after it was determined that a 92-year-old woman with dementia had two separate broken bones in her leg, according to a June 11 Facebook post by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
In an interview with the orthopedic trauma nursing manager of Sky Ridge Medical Center, officers learned the report completed by the Orchard Park Health Care Center was not consistent with the woman’s injuries, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by ABC 7 Denver.
Orchard Park Health Care did not immediately respond to a request for comment from McClatchy News on June 12.
The original report said the woman was found “sitting in her wheelchair, screaming for help in terrible pain” and “that no one had seen her fall” or knew what happened, officers said.
It was later determined that the woman’s injuries could not have happened while she was in the wheelchair, as it was a “clean break,” according to the arrest affidavit.
