ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A summer hotspot returns just in time to help people cool down with a sweet treat.

What’s believed to be Minnesota’s oldest Dairy Queen, located in Rochester, is serving up ice cream novelties once again.

The North Broadway shop opened this week.

It was put up for sale in March 2024, after serving chilled favorites by the same family since 1947.

In early May, the property was purchased by Nels and Nicole Pierson, with their son Mardoche put in charge of operations.

“Just come on down, we’re excited to see everyone,” Mardoche said. “We’re finally open again and we’re just happy.”

The North Broadway Dairy Queen is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. It will remain a seasonal business closing in October and reopening in March.
