The first flight from the Iranian city of Mashad is expected to land in New Delhi at 4:30 p.m. and the second flight will arrive late evening. India evacuated 290 Indian nationals from Iran, including students and religious pilgrims by a charter flight. Days after starting Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian citizens from conflict-hit Iran and Israel, India will fly out two more evacuation flights from Iran to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday. The first flight from the Iranian city of Mashad is expected to land in New Delhi at 4:30 p.m. and the second flight will arrive late evening at 11:30 p.m.

The special flights from Mashad are being arranged with support from the Iranian government as it will relax air space restrictions to allow Indian citizens to leave for home as Tehran deals with the conflict with Israel. Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal informed earlier that till Friday, India had evacuated 517 Indian nationals from Iran under Operation Sindhu.

“#OperationSindhu flight brings citizens home. India evacuated 290 Indian nationals from Iran, including students and religious pilgrims by a charter flight. The flight arrived in New Delhi at 2330 hrs on 20 June and was received by Secretary (CPV& OIA) Arun Chatterjee,” MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote on X.

“Government of India is grateful to the Government of Iran for the facilitation of the evacuation process,” he said.

The previous flights had taken off from Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Yerevan, Armenia and Qatar. The Government of India has also extended Operation Sindhu to Israel saying that Indian nationals in Israel who wish to leave will be “facilitated”. On Friday, a group of Indian nationals who were in Israel crossed over to Egypt through the Taba land port.

“Indians who crossed into Egypt via the Taba border crossing were received by Indian Embassy in Cairo team. Necessary assistance and logistical support were extended. The Embassy remains in close coordination with the authorities to ensure safe transit and welfare of Indian nationals,” said the Indian Embassy in Cairo on Friday. Indians are among the various groups of people who are being evacuated from Iran and Israel as the conflict turned a week old with both sides firing missiles and bombs at each other.
