Strict Action On The Shocking Incident:
According to the interior ministry, it remains unclear whether the cases of “needle spiking” – in which attackers use syringes to inject victims typically in the arm, leg or buttocks – involved date-rape drugs such as Rohypnol or GHB, which can leave individuals disoriented, unconscious and vulnerable to assault.
According to the reports, many of the suspects remain on the run, but one Bangladeshi migrant with a deportation order was arrested in Montpellier during the festival. He is suspected of injecting a young woman and was arrested with an empty syringe in his possession.
In Paris, at least 24 people—including 23 women and a 15-year-old girl—have filed complaints with the police after they were illegally injected with syringes in various neighborhoods of Paris during Music Festival 2025. A 36-year-old man with autism was arrested for jabbing one woman, according to Le Parisien.
In addition to the needle attacks, police arrested 371 people across France on Saturday night for various incidents, nearly 90 of them in Paris, the ministry said.

In Paris, police said 13 such cases were recorded.
Before the celebrations, some posts on social media had called for women to be targeted during the festival.
Notably, officials have not confirmed whether these were cases of needle spiking involving drugs like Rohypnol or GHB, which are sometimes used to make victims confused or unconscious and easier to harm.
“Some victims were taken to hospital for toxicological tests,” the ministry said.
In Paris, prosecutors said three people, including a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man, said they had been stabbed with needles in separate incidents. All three later felt unwell.

Two men were also arrested in Metz. Regional broadcaster France 3 said one man was found with a syringe and a woman who said she had been stabbed recognised the second man.

Fourteen people at the event were seriously hurt. This included a 17-year-old found on a street with stab wounds to the lower stomach and taken to the hospital.
Thirteen police officers were also injured. Paris police chief Laurent Nunez said that “no major incident has been reported”.
Dr Adam R Winstock, founder of the Global Drug Survey and a professor at University College London, told The New York Times that needle spiking is a “remarkably rare event”.
He added that it is “not the biggest threat out there”, saying that people are more often taken advantage of when they are drunk or on drugs.
What happened in 2022?
In 2022, there was a surge in reports of people claiming they had been stabbed with syringes at clubs, bars, music festivals, and even theatres, according to The Guardian.
At the time, the government warned people going out at night to stay alert. It also advised anyone who believed they had been pricked with a needle to contact the police immediately and get a toxicology test.
Some of these complaints were linked to the 2022 Fete de la Musique. Over the year, several hundred cases were reported in cities such as Nantes, Grenoble, and Toulouse.

AFP said a police memo from 2022 stated that syringe marks were usually found on the arms, back, or buttocks, and most victims did not see who had attacked them.
Notably, a British Parliament report from that year also said there had been over 1,000 such cases in the UK between September 2021 and the end of December 2022.
The report, based on responses from more than 3,000 victims and witnesses, said police data showed nearly 90 per cent of the needle spiking cases happened at night in places like pubs and nightclubs. Some incidents were also reported at festivals and house parties.

History Of Kolhapuri Chappals: What Makes Them Unique?
Kolhapuri chappals trace their origins to the 12th century in Maharashtra, particularly in the town of Kolhapur, from which they get their name. Made of locally-sourced leather, these handmade slippers are known for their durability, earthy charm, and intricate craftsmanship. Traditionally, artisans used vegetable dyes and did not rely on nails or synthetic materials-making them both eco-friendly and sturdy. Many argued that what Prada labelled as ‘modern sandals’ are already available in Indian markets at a fraction of the cost-yet without the designer tag or visibility on global runways. These Kolhapuri Chappals under ‘Prada’ brand cost a whopping £1,000 (approx. Rs 1.17 Lakh).

Traditionally, artisans used vegetable dyes and did not rely on nails or synthetic materials-making them both eco-friendly and sturdy.
What sets these chappals apart is not just their design but the deep cultural significance they carry. Once a symbol of rural pride, these slippers have been worn by farmers, royals, and eventually, fashion-forward citizens across India.

Prada’s reinvention sparks outrage
When models strutted down the Prada runway in what seemed like a minimalistic take on Kolhapuri chappals, desi netizens were quick to point out the striking resemblance. While some appreciated the global recognition, others criticized the fashion house for not giving due credit to the traditional artisans and communities that have been crafting these for centuries. Fashion critiques like Diet Sabya and designer Anaita Shroff Adajania shared how Prada has Kolhapuri chappals in their footwear collection and netizens had a plethora of comments to share.

One user commented, “If you don’t credit the place or culture it came from, it’s not ‘inspiration’ anymore it’s just copying.”
Authencity behind Kolhapuri chappals
Kolhapuri chappals are handcrafted using thick, full-grain buffalo or cowhide leather. Initially, the leather is quite stiff and lacks the soft cushioning. Unlike mass-produced shoes, Kolhapuris don’t have foam insoles, fabric lining, or heel cushioning. Your feet are in direct contact with untreated or vegetable-tanned leather, which can be abrasive in the beginning. The ones made of original leather might give you a bite or blisters. But the color of the chappals keep getting darker once they start aging and absorbing your body heat.

Cultural appreciation vs. appropriation
This controversy raises important questions around cultural appropriation in the global fashion industry. While inspiration can flow across borders, the lack of acknowledgment or collaboration with original craftspeople often results in the erasure of cultural histories. With increasing global discourse around ethical fashion, many now believe luxury brands have a responsibility to credit their inspirations transparently-and support the communities involved.

The silver lining?
If there’s one positive takeaway, it’s this: Kolhapuri chappals are now in the global spotlight. Indian artisans, if empowered through collaboration and fair trade, could potentially benefit from this renewed interest. But recognition must begin with credit-something fashion houses can no longer afford to overlook. The art of making designer chappals out of leather was long ago established in Maharashtrian town, Kolhapur! And not in footwear collection by Prada.
UP Bride Threatens To Chop Hubby Into Pieces If Touched On Wedding Night, Climbs Wall & Runs Away For Nephew In Prayagraj
A newlywed bride threatened to kill her husband with a knife on their wedding night in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. She warned him not to touch her, or else he would be found chopped into 35 pieces. The incident has gone viral on social media, reminding many of the shocking Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Madhya Pradesh. The bride told the family that she was in love with someone else — a man named Aman, who is actually her nephew. She also insisted on going away with her lover, who she had been in contact with even after marriage. A few days later, she climbed the boundary wall of the house and ran away, for Aman. The groom’s family has filed a police complaint, and the matter is under investigation.

According to reports, the couple had gotten married recently and everything seemed normal during the wedding. But the situation changed drastically on their first night together.
As the groom tried to get close, the bride reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened him, saying, “If you touch me, your body will be found in 35 pieces.”
When asked why she was behaving this way, the bride told the family that she was in love with someone else — a man named Aman, who is actually her nephew.
According to the groom’s family, she began sleeping every night with a knife in her hand, keeping everyone in the house tense and scared. She also reportedly threatened the groom and his relatives, saying that if they told anyone about this, she would file a false case against the entire family.
She also insisted on going away with her lover, who she had been in contact with even after marriage.
