Palakollu Girl Creates History with NASA, Lokesh Applauds
Education minister Lokesh Nara congratulated Dangeti Jahnavi, belonging to Palakollu in West Godavari district, for having achieved the rare distinction of completing Nasa’s International Air and Space Program. She will travel to the space in 2029. She is a STEM advocate and asteroid discoverer.
In the tweet, Lokesh appreciated her journey from West Godavari to NASA’s international air and space programme, which is a testament to the talent and determination of young Indians. Lokesh wished her the best for the upcoming mission to Titan’s orbital port space station, a US-based project scheduled to be launched within four years.
Jahnavi, a graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering, she is the first Indian to complete NASA’s prestigious International Air and Space Program. She completed her undergraduate studies from Lovely Professional University in Punjab, after pursuing her Intermediate in Palakollu.
A space enthusiast, Jahnavi takes active participation in STEM education and space outreach. She has also delivered talks at ISRO’s educational programs and addressed students at premier institutions, including NITs across the country. Regularly, she also takes part in analog missions, deep-sea diving and conferneces related to planetary science. She was also the youngest foreign analog astronaut and the first Indian chosen for Space Iceland’s geology training.
