What is it?

Northeastern varsity men’s and women’s teams in several sports — including soccer and volleyball — will begin their seasons in late August. And while winter hockey and basketball are ticketed events, fall athletics on and around the Boston campus are free to the public.

Which sports are going on during the fall?

For a chance to cheer on the Huskies while enjoying the autumn weather, check out outdoor sports including soccer, field hockey, rowing and cross country. Indoors, volleyball, swimming and diving seasons also kick off in August. Season schedules can be found here.

Where do the Huskies compete?

Men’s and women’s soccer play their home games at Parsons Field in Brookline, Massachusetts. Field hockey’s home turf is Dedham Field (in Dedham). Rowing competes on the Charles River and calls the Henderson Boathouse home. On campus, volleyball, swimming and diving competitions are held in the Cabot Center complex. Cross country’s regular season schedule (to be announced) is made up of a series of invitationals around New England.

Tell me about the Huskies teams.

Northeastern is a Division I university, competing in 13 varsity sports. Aside from the hockey program, which competes in Hockey East, teams are part of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) conference. The Huskies’ fight song, “All Hail Northeastern,” was written by Charles A. Pethybridge, a 1932 engineering graduate.
